People choose to not L2 cancel because it’s exploiting the “protect ball” mechanic. L2 isn’t suppose to be use to cancel out animations. Personally I don’t care, at the end of the day *”it’s just basketball”*

2k19 and 2k16 was the most versatile in terms of dribbling people put different sigs on all the time. Also 2k17 it was so many different sigs that dribblers had a variety of styles to choose from, go watch a dribble mixtape from 2k16-19 you’ll see how difference compared to watching them from 2k20-24

You make a lot of good points but I disagree with your viewpoint on midrange and post scoring, it should be alot easier since 3 > 2 and if it was just as hard to score a 2 as it was a 3 a lot of peoples playstyle including mine would be eliminated like it was previously. Nobody took midranges floaters post moves last year and now we do.

The thing that I like is from 2k19 and 20 I couldnt dribble like i could only do simple stuff but I knew that if I learned how to dribble then that would make me a whole different player. I had people tried to teach me but I just couldn’t get so when 21 next gen came out I finally learned how to do different things and 22-23-24 they made it easier for people that don’t know how to dribble to learn how. I didn’t use all the moves everyone else used I used what worked for me because I’m not a cheese dribble I can’t do all that fancy stuff I’m simple but I know how to chain dribble moves together from just practice and understand what move does what and how I can make it affective for me that’s the only thing I love about 2k and what they been doing over the years it making it easier easier to learn how to dribble but everything else it’s a negative for me I hate

Everything he's saying is fact, a good move is a good move. You're gonna use the best tools for the job. I've seen people with 95 bh and 90 swb dribble like shit and I've seen people cook with a 40 bh/swb. Steal is overpowered as hell, 2k doesn't provide full transparency and you can't blame anyone for it. What's next? NBA Live was always the "sim" basketball game. I genuinely believe without the dribbling cheese 2k would be half of what it is now. Ever since they patched it out the game the viewership is dwindling year after year. That "dribbling exploitation" is the same reason people in 2k17 were hitting 900k-1M subs in a singular year of 2k.

I will admit. I loved 20. Onky because you coukd make many different builds and have different playstyles and be effective. Also you coukd play defense. 19 and 20 were my favs. I like 24 gamepley. I think the main is with 24 is Proplay and people not wanting to adapt. They still want to left right cheese and explosive BHDM. As you said if we had these dribble animations but could burst out like 19..........MAN!!!!!!!!!!

I think movement and fluidity of the game was better with 2K16 and 17. After those the series movement got stiff.

Someone somewhere has figured this stuff out through rigorous labbing and the amateur gamer just plays online to die and eventual leave the game due to the standard gaming experience which is now “sweaty”.

“Put in more good moves” is not gonna change anything. The most popular/efficient way to play the game is hunting 3s and creating 10ft of space with every move. There’ll always be one move that creates the most space or one move that’s the quickest. Best scorers in the nba are Embiid, SGA, Jalen Brunson, Luka, Giannis, KD, d book. All players that don’t even care about shooting 3s or dribbling quick. They don’t dribble to create 10ft of space with every move. They operate in the midrange and they seek contact. Steezo (extreme example I know) doesn’t use John wall stepback or Jamal Murray behind the back, because he has a different playstyle and those moves wouldn’t be as good for his playstyle. If you ask steezo he’ll say the best stepback is Luka doncic, if you ask the average 2k player they’ll say John wall. There’s variety of moves just not variety of playstyles and that’s 2k fault. Definitely not content creators fault. Buts it’s a reason why dignify will get more views in the rec on an Allen iverson build than comp dribble heads, we’ve seen that all before😂 I’m bored of 3pt hunting being the go to playstyle. For selfish reasons I hope 3pt hunting isn’t as effective in 25. Im tryna see people have different playstyles. Tyceno went crazy on 2k20 shooting hop jumpers, Joeknows is crazy with the 5 out, rec RUclipsrs always trying out different playstyles replicating nba players. Yes L2 cancel and all that takes a lot of skill and well done for being good at that but there’s a lot of 2k players that like real basketball.

They added in steal because it's never fucking mattered and for years we had to sit there and you MF dribble the clock out then drive or shoot. This the first year steal has really been effective. Put up a clip of kyrie dribbling out the entire shot clock in the NBA. You fishing for bullshit and you know it. I agree that y'all can use some more animations that way it will be even and not so easy for locks to predict cus y'all only have a handful of goated animations. That's my 2 cents. Oh and it does take skill timing to rip someone cus you have to be directly squared up with the ball handler and you have to swipe to the opposite direction. Miss me with that "No Skill" shit!
